As two young and vivacious college girls, Prestin and Dallas were inseparable. They did everything together, including the mundane and occasionally embarrassing. One such task was using the bathroom. Despite the perceived privacy of individual toileting, Prestin had a confession to make; she struggled with constipation on occasion. After a particularly rich fast-food meal, her bowel movements were sluggish, much to her chagrin.
One afternoon, the two girls were at their dorm, engaged in an intense study session. Prestin's stomach began to rumble audibly and she noticed an increasing discomfort in her abdomen. She glanced nervously at Dallas, who could tell that something was amiss.
"Uh oh," she said, "are you feeling okay, Prestin? Maybe we should take a break."
"Yeah, maybe you're right," Prestin replied, trying to sound casual.
Both girls stood up, stretched their legs, and walked towards the bathroom. When they got there, Prestin closed the door behind them, locking it for privacy's sake. As she sat on the toilet, she let out a long, low moan that belied the pain she was feeling.
"Are you okay, Prestin?" Dallas asked from outside the door.
"Yeah, I'm just... you know." Prestin replied, her cheeks flushing red with embarrassment.
After what seemed like an eternity, Prestin finally managed to pass a small, hard stool. She breathed a sigh of relief and stood up, washing her hands in the sink. As she opened the door to leave, she noticed that Dallas had remained outside, waiting for her.
"Everything okay in here?" she asked, concern evident in her voice.
"Yeah, I'm fine now," Prestin replied, Retrieving her toilet paper and flushing the toilet.
"Do you want some help with anything?" Dallas offered, hesitantly.
"No, no; thanks," Prestin said, pushing past the tidal wave of awkwardness that threatened to engulf them both. "I think I'm good now."
They both walked back to their study area, sitting down in their respective chairs. The air seemed heavy with unspoken words, and Prestin couldn't help but feel clouded by the events that had just transpired. Her normally close bond with Dallas felt slightly strained now, and she wasn't sure how to navigate this new territory.
As the day wore on, they both tried their best to ignore the elephant in the room. They managed to get lost in their studies, immersed in textbooks and notes. Before they knew it, the sun began to set over the campus, signaling the end of another day at college.
As they crawled into their shared bed that night, Prestin couldn't help but feel a little nervous about the situation. Dallas, too, seemed anxious, tossing and turning in her sleep. Prestin carefully turned on her side, facing Dallas, and reached out to lightly wrap an arm around her waist.
Dallas let out a soft sigh of contentment and cuddled closer to Prestin, their bodies pressing against one another in the darkness. Despite the initial awkwardness, they found solace in each other's presence—a reminder that no matter what life might throw their way, they had each other. And with that thought in mind, they drifted off to sleep, secure in the knowledge that tomorrow would bring new challenges and opportunities for growth.
