The humming sound of the fluorescent lights above echoed off the tiled walls as Lauren, Sarah, and Emma waited outside the restroom. They had been at the movie theater for hours, but their bladders were still full despite repeated trips to the snack bar for drinks. Finally, someone emerged from the bathroom they were hoping to use. It was a young man, looking confused and disheveled. He quickly zipped up his pants and scurried out of the bathroom, not realizing that he was about to cause quite a commotion.
Lauren, Sarah, and Emma exchanged glances, wondering what could have possibly happened in there. They decided to investigate and pushed their way into the restroom, curious as to what was causing the delay. Their noses immediately picked up on an unpleasant smell emanating from one of the stalls, a smell that was both familiar and foreign to them. Lauren gagged slightly and covered her mouth with her hand, figuring it was best not to venture further into the smelly area.
Sarah, however, was more intrigued than repulsed. She walked towards the source of the smell, remembering her mother telling her stories about people doing "unspeakable things" in public restrooms. As she approached the stall, she could see the man's legs sticking out from under the door. She wondered if he was sleeping or had passed out. She slowly pushed the door open, only to be met with a wave of putrid smell that made her stomach churn.
Inside the stall, the man was lying on the floor, his hands and feet bound with toilet paper. His face was covered in feces, and he seemed to be conscious but frozen, eyes wide and filled with fear. As Sarah stumbled back from the stench, Lauren and Emma caught up with her, both gaping at the scene before them.
Muffled screams could be heard from the stalls around them as other moviegoers realized something was wrong. Sarah quickly pulled out her phone and dialed 9-1-1, her hands shaking as she whispered an explanation to the operator. They decided to wait for help to arrive rather than try to free the man themselves.
After what felt like an eternity, they heard sirens in the distance. The pounding of footsteps grew louder as the police and paramedics rushed into the bathroom. One of the policemen quickly sized up the situation, noticing the restraints on the man's limbs. He pulled out his baton and slid it under the man's stomach, lifting him off the ground and onto the nearest bench.
The man continued to scream incoherently as they cut him free from his makeshift bonds. Several officers restrained him while the paramedics checked his vitals and tried to clean him up as best they could. The phone camera footage that went viral later showed the man's confused face as he was escorted out of the bathroom, covered in garbage bags.
As for Lauren, Sarah, and Emma, they went home shaken but unharmed. They vowed to never again take public restrooms for granted and always ensure their own safety before venturing into such potentially dangerous situations. Little did they know that their encounter with the man in the bathroom would stick with them for years to come, haunting their dreams and leaving them with a strange sense of curiosity about the darker side of human nature.
